Bree Tanner

Bree Tanner

Early Life

Bree lived with her abusive father while she was a human. When she felt that she'd had enough of her father's abusive treatment, she ran away from home. Three weeks later, she encounters Riley, who "offers her a burger", and takes her to Victoria (her face shrouded from the shadows) and turned her into a vampire and a member of her army.

The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner

Three months after she became a vampire, Bree went hunting with Kevin, a blond kid calling himself "Spider-Man", and an obedient vampire named Diego. After breaking away from the two kids, Bree and Diego went hunting alone and used the time to talk to each other. They later discover that vampires aren't vulnerable to sunlight, but rather sparkle like diamonds. When their army left Seattle without leaving a clue, Bree and Diego set off to find them on their own until they finally caught their scent and followed it to their new location.

While Riley went to visit Victoria, Bree and Diego followed him to tell him of their discovery, only to find out more than they've expected about the world of vampires. Diego proceeded his plan while Bree went back to their group and awaited their return. However, Riley told Bree later that Diego had gone with Victoria to watch the Cullens, after he told the army of the plan to destroy the "yellow-eyes". Though Bree was suspicious of their real agenda, she decided to stick with them. When the army prepares for war, her friend, Fred, decided to leave and explore the world, and asked Bree to join him. Though she wanted to, she decided to stay until she found Diego.

When the Cullens and wolves had destroyed most of her army, she found no trace of Diego whatsoever and figured out that Victoria had killed him. She surrendered to the Cullens to save herself.

Eclipse

When the Volturi arrived in Forks with other members of the Volturi guard, Jane demanded Bree tell her about her creator - Victoria. Bree knew nothing of Victoria, as most of the newborns never got to see her face or know her name. She didn't remember much of the night she was transformed, except for "it was burning". As Victoria never allowed the newborns to see her, she made Riley do all the controlling. It was Riley that manipulated them all into fighting; telling
them that they must destroy the "yellow eyes".

It is obvious she didn't contribute much, because otherwise she would have been killed instantly by the Cullens. Bree was the last of the newborns to be killed. Once Victoria and Riley had been killed and burnt, Edward and Bella made their way over to the rest of the Cullens, where they stood by Bree. She had surrendered, as she didn't see the point of fighting, asking that they did not kill her, and she wouldn't attack them. She found it very hard to resist Bella's blood, but managed. The Volturi arrived, and Jane asked them questions. Jane concluded that she was a criminal, despite her ignorance of the laws, and ordered her to be killed after torturing her with her power. Felix killed her; to which she didn't fight back, and burnt the remains.

Carlisle was deeply saddened, as he would have welcomed her to his coven as she showed the ability to control her instinct and thirst.

Physical appearance

Bree is described as a young girl of about 15. She is said to be slender with chin-length dark hair. She possesses the glowing, red eyes indicative of a newborn vampire. She has a high-pitched voice and a shrill scream.

Personality and traits

Bree didn't really like being a vampire, although she was used to it, she longed for her normal life. She liked to read books, and was in love with one of the other newborn vampires, Diego. She believed in urban vampire legends and, at first, was afraid of stakes and the sun. When she discovered these couldn't harm her, she was relieved.

Bree had a great amount of self control, considering the fact that she resisted Bella's blood. She also seems mildly innocent to Victoria's plans. Althought it is said that she has great self control, she also finds it hard to resist her desire for Bella's blood.

Relationships

Diego:
Diego was one of the Seattle newborn army. He was Bree's only vampire friend and proved to her that vampires did not die in sunlight. He and Bree spend time together one night when they are out hunting and he shows her undue kindness in letting her drink the blood of a girl he has knocked out. After spending time together in a cave to escape the sunlight the two of them become good friends and Bree falls in love with him when she sees him sparkling in the sunlight. He and Bree find out that they are not being told the truth by Riley and that they are just pawns in Victoria's vampire army. Diego confronts Riley about being able to survive sunlight and Riley kills him in case he tells the other newborns.

Fred:
Fred was part of the newborn army, and the only one with a gift. Because his "gift" allowed him to repulse vampires who wanted to pick a fight with him, Bree was constantly hiding in his shadows to stay out of trouble. About six days before the army moved out to attack the Cullens, a vampire approached Bree to pick a fight, and Fred inflicted him and his group with his power to save her. About one day before they fought the Cullens, Fred and Bree started forming a friendship together. Fred wanted to explore the vampire world on his own, and asked Bree to come with him. Though she agreed, she told him she needed to go with the group to find Diego. Fred agreed to wait for them in Riley Park, in Vancouver, but he would wait no longer than one day, then he would go alone. Right before the Volturi killed her, she telepathically asked Edward to be nice to "him" if they ever were to meet him in the future.

Jodelle Ferland

Jodelle Ferland (born October 9, 1994) is a Canadian actress who will play a "newly turned vampire" in the film Eclipse. This role is presumably for the character Bree, a newborn vampire who gave up attacking the Cullens in Eclipse.

Ferland was born in Nanaimo, British Columbia, the daughter of Valerie Ferland. Her siblings are actress Marisha Ferland and musician Jeremy Ferland.

She made her movie debut at age 4 in the TV-movie Mermaid, for which she received a Daytime Emmy Award nomination, making her the youngest nominee in Emmy history. She has since made guest appearances in several televisions series, including Stargate Atlantis, Dark Angel, Stargate SG-1, Smallville and Supernatural, and has appeared in films including They and Trapped. In 2005, she starred in the Terry Gilliam drama Tideland, for which she received a Genie Award nomination in the Best Actress category. Later, she appeared in the 2006 film Silent Hill, an adaptation of the well-known video game, and had a supporting role in Good Luck Chuck for Lions Gate Entertainment. In 2006 she filmed the movie Case 39 opposite Renée Zellweger but it has yet to be released. She recently announced that she has been cast as Bree, in the third film of the Twilight series, titled Eclipse.

Jodelle admits that choosing this part was a no-brainer. "Usually I read the script before I take a role, but I haven't read this one," she explained. "It's Twilight, of course I'm going to take it."

Eclipse Cast Interviews

Interviews with Robert, Ashley, Stephanie, Kristen, Taylor and Bryce

With The Twilight Saga: Eclipse getting ready to hit theaters on June 30, Summit Entertainment has released an EPK for the media to use. If you’re not familiar with the term EPK, it stands for Electronic Press Kit. An EPK is where the studio puts movie clips, trailers, generic interviews and behind the scenes footage from whatever movie they’re promoting. With demand for everything Twilight, I figured some of you might like to see the B-Roll and on set interviews with Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner, Kristen Stewart, Stephenie Meyer, Bryce Dallas Howard and Ashley Greene.

Eclipse Soundtrack

The Long awaited soundtrack of the upcoming movie Twilight Saga: Eclipse was release on June 8, 2010.

According to the Reuters wire story:

“The U.S. album chart is finally heating up after a lengthy lackluster spell, with the latest “Twilight” soundtrack set to lead a trio of notable newcomers next week.

“The Twilight Saga: Eclipse” is going up against Christina Aguilera’s first studio release in nearly four years and the latest EP from the cast of the Fox TV show “Glee.”

Industry prognosticators think “Eclipse” will likely debut at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, with possibly as much as 140,000 to 160,000 copies sold by week’s end on June 13. The last “Twilight” release, “New Moon,” was released on a Friday and sold 115,000 in just three days, debuting at No. 2. In its first full week, it sold 153,000 and moved up to No. 1.

Sources also predict that the “Glee” album, “Journey to Regionals,” might sell around 110,000 to 130,000 while Aguilera’s “Bionic” could move 100,000 to 120,000 copies.”

Stephanie Meyer's Novella: The Short Second Life Of Bree Tanner

Released June 5, 2010 Stephanie Meyers 178 page Eclipse Novella has Hit the Top of the Charts not only here in the US but in the UK as well!

USA Today along with the Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, and Publishers Weekly are the premier lists that booksellers want their products to appear on. Publishers Weekly and The New York Times subdivide their lists into various subcategories whereas USA Today and the Wall Street Journal throw everybody in together. What often happens, is that it’s very hard to tell how a book is really doing via the New York Times lists (there are over 30 subcategories) and Publishers Weekly (they don’t rate children’s/teen books). In fact the New York Times subdivided its list as a direct response to the Harry Potter books clogging the top spots for over a year. On the other hand you can really see the domination of YA material on the USA Today and Wall Street Journal lists. Last year the Twilight Saga, the Whimpy Kid Series, and the Hunger Games series dominated those lists for weeks.

According to the Guargian.co.uk:

Meyer's The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner, told from the perspective of a newly created vampire, was published in the UK at 5.05am on 5 June and went on to sell almost 90,000 copies that day – taking the number one slot "by a hefty margin", according to book sales monitor Nielsen BookScan. This is despite Meyer making the book available for free online until 5 July.

Bookshops around the country opened early for teenage fans keen to snap up a copy of the novella as early as possible, with fancy dress, vampire makeovers and quizzes laid on in scenes reminiscent of Harry Potter publication days. "People were queuing at our Milton Keynes branch from 4.30am," said Waterstone's spokesman Jon Howells. Copies of the strictly-embargoed book were delivered to Waterstone's Piccadilly branch in a coffin.

"It's our fastest-selling book so far this year and it may be the fastest-selling book of the year ... it will be pretty tough to beat it," Howells said. "It's our biggest book since Dan Brown's The Lost Symbol. Offering it online for free is a nice touch [but] I don't think it's a big deal. Pretty much every Twilight fan will want not just to read it, but also to own it. It's shaping up to be a big 'un."

According to the Bookseller.com, Meyer's opening day sales are only trumped by two authors: JK Rowling, whose final Harry Potter novel holds the record with 3.6m copies sold in its first 24 hours, and Dan Brown, whose latest novel, The Solomon Key, sold over half a million copies in its first five days last year. Meyer's publisher, Little Brown, says it sold a book by the author every two seconds in 2009, with over 100 million copies of her four novels sold worldwide since 2005.

Speaking to fan site The Twilight Saga about her new book, Meyer said that "given all the time in the world and no distractions" she could write a short story for every one of her characters. "Some would turn into novellas and some would turn into novels and some would turn into series," the author said.

Despite this, she's not sure she'll revisit the Twilight world with another "companion story". "Most of these stories don't feel as necessary as Bree's, because Bree's story affects the central story so directly," she said. "It was a lot of fun, though."
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Although I bought it only 2 days after the release date(only due to money clearing to get it...lol) I have yet to read it...However I'm extremely excited to read it, I have heard nothing but excellent reviews about it! After reading Eclipse and Breaking Dawn both for the 4th time, I was wanting to read my Sookie Stackhouse books by Charlaine Harris due to her new release Dead in the Family and also to recap before season 3 started so I am 1/2 way through the 5th book and once I am done I will take a break to read Bree Tanner before I conitnue with my Sookie Books. I have way to many Vampire obsessions...lmao
