Vampire Diaries star Matt Davis has joked that he wants his character Alaric to have sex scenes.

Speaking to E! Online, Davis explained that he wants Alaric's relationship with Jenna (Sara Canning) to move to the next level.

"Good ol' Alaric definitely needs to get laid," he said. "I'm just hoping [writer] Kevin Williamson will write a sex scene between me and Sara Canning."

He continued: "Tune in to see wild, nasty sex scenes between Alaric and Jenna. X-rated."

Davis also joked that Alaric and his wife Isobel (Mia Kirshner) are reunited in a "menage a trois" but added: "No, it's shocking. To see this missing wife of his after so long. Not only is it shocking, but those moments never go the way you expect them to.

"His whole life changed when she vanished and he's been searching for her ever since. [To] finally confront the thing he's been looking for? That would turn your life upside down, and it will definitely be a big moment for Alaric."
