Joe Manganiello has revealed that his character on True Blood will have a bigger role this season.
Manganiello, who portrays werewolf Alcide on the HBO series, stated that viewers will get to see more of his life from before he met Sookie (Anna Paquin), according to the New York Post.
Manganiello said: "They brought in some of his backstory - how hard it was for him growing up as a werewolf."
The 34-year-old went on to state that it is his character's inherent loneliness that attracts him to Sookie.
Manganiello explained: "What a lonely existence is it to not truly be able to open up to other people, besides werewolves?
"To meet someone else with an ability they didn't necessarily want gave him another person to open up with, which is really attractive to someone like him."
In mid-June, Manganiello promised that the coming season of True Blood will feature more fighting, stating that the tensions among werewolves will run high.
The actor previously admitted that he finds the workout regime for the HBO series to be a pain, claiming that it is important for him that the character appears to be real
