Katherine Helmond has signed up to play a recurring role on HBO's True Blood.

Helmond will play Caroline, the grandmother of Sheriff Andy Bellefleur (Chris Bauer) and his sister Portia (Courtney Ford), according to The Hollywood Reporter.

In the original Sookie Stackhouse novels by Charlaine Harris, Caroline dislikes vampires and clashes with Sookie (Anna Paquin).

Who's The Boss star Helmond will play the role in two episodes of the upcoming fourth season.

The actress starred on ABC sitcom Soap from 1977 to 1981 and played Mona Robinson on Who's The Boss from 1984 to 1992. She also played a recurring role on Everybody Loves Raymond between 1996 and 2004, and will voice the character of Lizzie in upcoming film animation Cars 2.

It was recently announced that Grey's Anatomy actor Scott Foley will appear as military veteran Patrick in the new season of True Blood.
