She's Not There
Sookie materializes in a grand ballroom full of faeries and humans. She is joined there by Claudine, who reveals herself as Sookie’s godmother, and Sookie is offered a glowing “light fruit. Before she eats it, she notices her Granddaddy Earl, who disappeared 20 years earlier. Earl thinks he has been there for only a few hours, and Sookie pieces it all together. They are caught in a trap. The faerie Queen Mab enters after overhearing Sookie’s thoughts and confronts her by having other faeries hold her down to force her into eating a light fruit. Sookie’s magical light then shoots from her fingers throwing Queen Mab into a tree in which stops the magical faerie world revealing the real images.
The faeries are indeed hideous creatures, the light fruits are maggot infested and the beautiful ballroom scene is actually a desolate landscape. Sookie tells Earl to run and the attempt to escape. As Queen Mab orders for her capture, Sookie and Earl run into Claude, another fae seeming to be on their side, and a light bombing war ensues. Claude takes them to the edge of a cliff telling them only Sookie can return by jumping off the cliff into the portal. Queen Mab starts to close the portal when Earl grabs Sookie and both plunge into the portal where they wind up back at Bon Temps cemetery where Earl dies turning to dust, but not before he gives her his pocket watch telling her to give it to Jason.
Afterwards, Sookie arrives back at her house only to find that there are people there fixing it up. The worker, not knowing who Sookie is, tells her to leave or they will call the cops. Sookie fires back saying go right ahead because she would like to know what is going on. Jason then enters wearing a cop’s uniform and is surprised and happy to see Sookie is alive. Jason explains to an unknowing Sookie, that she has been gone for an entire year and everyone assumed she was dead and he actually sold the house. Sookie tries to explain to Jason where she was and that for her it was only 5 minutes and to prove to him she is telling the truth, she hands him Earl’s watch.
When the sun set, both Bill and Eric show up to Sookie’s to see if it was true that they felt her presence after all this time. Bill and Eric have a bit of a funny bickering match which is ended by Bill ordering Eric to go. Any Bellefleur then arrives shouting and ranting with the fact that she has been gone for a year and even though he is glad to see she is alive, he is pissed that many hours and man power were wasted searching for her. Bill intervenes stating that she was on a secret vampire business trip on his behalf and offers to repay for all the costs. Sookie thanks Bill for helping but explains to him that even though it has been a year for him, it was only a few hours ago that he broke her heart and she was nowhere near ready to forgive him for that and Bill leaves. In the sheriff’s car, Jason confronts Andy about his V addiction.
We then see Jesus and Lafayette going to The Moon Goddess Emporium, which is a magic shop where a coven of witches convene . After being greeted by Holly and another Wiccan, Lafayette is then introduced to Marnie, the head of the witches, who seems to be in a trance. Already skeptical about all of this whole witch stuff, Marnie channels a spirit that turns out to be Eddie, the vampire who he used to get his vampire blood for, and freaks out leaving the store.
Over in Shreveport at Fangtasia, the AVL’s representative Nan Flanagan is there with a video crew to shoot a public service announcement for the American Vampire League. After Pam fails to do a good job, Eric then delivers a statement assuring the human public that vampires are not blood thirsty killers and they can be trusted, since they are now feared and hated in the “post Russell Edgington world.” As always, Eric is a natural.
Back in Bon Temps, Hoyt returns home from a long stressful day from work where he is greeted by his live in vampire girlfriend, Jessica. After finding that there is nothing in the fridge to eat other than True Blood, he and Jessica have an argument about theirs differences in the fact that he is human and needs to eat and that it wouldn’t hurt if Jessica would make him something once in a while. She then gets angry and starts to throw a dozen of eggs into a frying pan to cook then pours the extremely undercooked eggs on a dish for Hoyt. Being as stubborn as she, he actually starts to eat them (in which I actually gagged watching this scene…lol) Not being able to help herself, Jessica begins to laugh and she and Hoyt make up with each other and head to Fangtasia for a date night out. After Jessica is approached by a fang banger on the dance floor, she explains that she is there with her boyfriend. She goes to the bathroom to cool off where Pam joins her to talk to her. Pam, not understanding how Jessica can live with a human, try’s to reason with her that Jessica has needs beyond what Hoyt can provide for her. Jessica still claims that she loves Hoyt and that is all she needs, yet Pam has her doubts.
Since running away from Bon Temps, Tara, now known as Toni, is now a cage fighter in New Orleans. Her opponent, Naomi, also turns out to be Tara’s new love interest. Yes Tara is dating a woman. While they are in bed together, Tara receives a text from Lafayette letting her know that Sookie is alive and back in Bon Temps.
Over at Merlotte’s it seems that Tommy is now staying with Maxine Fortenberry and is in a leg brace. Sam, feeling bad that he shot his own brother in the leg, is paying for his physical therapy. Sam has also joined a group of fellow shape shifters who formed an anger management group.
Jason arrives in Hot Shot with a truck load of food for the people there. He seems to be keeping his promise to Crystal on helping to take care of them while she was gone. After asking one of the boys to put some food into the fridge, he comes back telling Jason that it is not cold. Jason goes with him to see what is wrong with it when someone hits him over the head and throws him into the freezer locking him in it.
Jesus convinces Lafayette to go back to the Moon Goddess with him, when they arrive the witches are in a circle attempting to raise Marnie’s dead parrot. However, it isn’t until Lafayette joins the circle that the spell actually works and the parrot is brought back to life, even if only for a minute. Later that evening, we see one of the members of the witch’s coven walk towards and enter a very heavily guarded mansion announcing that the king is expecting her. When she arrives inside the house, she kneels and greats his majesty, The King of Louisiana, Mr. Bill Compton!
Back in Sookie’s House, after taking a shower, she starts to get ready for bed. As she starts to get dressed, she throws her robe only to be caught but none other than our favorite Viking Sherriff, Eric Northman. She turns startled attempting to cover her thinking that it is yet another dream, once realizing that it isn’t, she asks how he was able to enter her house when she had rescinded his invitation. He then reveals that he bought her house and pulls out a set of keys from his pocket. When she asks why he would buy her house he explains and tells her that he knew she was still alive and that if he owned her house, then he would own her. He moves towards a seemingly frightened Sookie where his fangs appear and tells her that she is his!
